“Ready, Set, kNOw:” Making Right Decisions


Program Overview:


The mission of this program is to educate and empower adolescent youth on healthy decision-making as the foundation for successful living inclusive of personal development, self-esteem, goal-setting and the process of relationships. The Program explores and instructs on life skills needed to make good choices inclusive of gang prevention, health (drinking, smoking, drugs, etc.), anatomy and physiology, cultural sensitivity and self-esteem.

Ages: 9-17


Program dates:  July 8, 2019 – July 19, 2019 (two weeks)

9am-3pm (Monday – Thursday)

Accommodations will be made for working parents


Location: Zion Multi-Purpose Facility, 312 Grand Avenue, Freeport, NY

About the Program Director

Yolanda Artis (Program Director) runs the Ready, Set, kNOw: Making Right Decisions Program. She graduated from Spelman College, Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, Pre-Medicine. Upon completion of that degree, she later obtained a Bachelor of Science in Physician Assistant studies from the State University of New York Health Science Center, Brooklyn.  She is currently employed as a Physician Assistant at SUNY Health Science Center, Brooklyn in the Department of Emergency Medicine and she has worked in that capacity for the last 15 years. She holds a national certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistant as well a registered license with New York State. In addition, she has certifications in Basic Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support.
